The best way to improve your GMAT is to take the actual exam. As you may know, the GMAT is an adaptive test. The difficulty level of the questions adapts to your level of knowledge. If you do well on the exam, you will never see the easy questions. On the other hand, if you perform badly at the beginning of the exam, you will not receive any difficult questions.
It is difficult to replicate the format of the GMAT exam in a book. We can guarantee that you will not become familiar with the adaptive nature of the exam if you only study through a book. Since the real exam is taken on a computer, we suggest you become familiar to its unfamiliar nature.

The GMAC (the owner of the GMAT) gives away a free software that comes with a sample mock exam. Taking this mock exam is a must for every GMAT taker because it allows you to get familiar with the exam interface. Moreover, you will have the most accurate estimation of your score. Unfortunately, you get only one mock exam, thus it is important to choose wisely when to take the mock exam.

On PrepMyFuture.com, you are invited to try a free GMAT session every day, whereby we keep giving you questions until you get one wrong. The questions are similar to the problems you will face on exam day. There is a lot of free GMAT material available online. It is a great opportunity to save some money, however, you have to be careful. There is some very good GMAT content on the Internet, but also some really bad content.
Here is what you should look for in the GMAT questions you may come across:
- Quantity of the Questions. The more questions the website has, the less time you will waste searching for a new source of GMAT content.
- Quality of the Solution. The explanation of the solution is key to your understanding of the underlying answer in order to improve your score.
- Quality Format. It will be easier to read the question and you will not get tired as easily. This is especially important for the math sections, as some websites do not know how to format mathematics formulas correctly.
