#1 What's the GOETHE B2?

The GOETHE-ZERTIFIKAT B2 is a German certification which was developed by the Goethe-Institut, the ÖSD and the University of Fribourg/Switzerland. It is intended for anyone, regardless of nationality, who wishes to have their level in German certified. After taking the test, the candidate receives a diploma certifying his/her results, which is valid for life. However, many organizations (institutions, employers...) require diplomas issued less than two years ago.

#2 The two versions of the GOETHE B2

There are two versions of the GOETHE B2. They have similar objectives but are aimed at different audiences:

The GOETHE-ZERIFIKAT B2 für Jugendliche: This version of the test is intended for people who are between 12 and 15 years old.
Le GOETHE-ZERIFIKAT B2 für Erwachsene: This version is for people of age 16 and more.

Important: The level of these two exams is identical. The format of the exam and the diplomas awarded are also the same. The only difference is that the topics covered are adapted to the target audience. Although this preparation is primarily intended for people wishing to take the adult version of the test, it is also suitable for candidates preparing the youth version.

For this test, the candidate must answer multiple-choice questions with two or three proposed answers. The four parts of this test are based on different recordings of various formats, styles and themes.

For this section, the candidate must answer 3 types of questions:

1 multiple choice questions with two or three proposed answers;

2 associations between situations and written documents.

3 fill in the blanks exercises.

2 tâches

Preparation: 15 minutes
Duration: 15 minutes in pairs or 10 minutes individually

Graded out of 100 points

Task 1: The candidate(s) each speak on a given topic. Their presentation is descriptive and argumentative. Each presentation lasts 4 minutes.
Task 2: The 2 candidates (or the candidate and the examiner) take part in a debate on a given topic. They express opinions and react to the arguments of their interlocutor. This task lasts 5 minutes.

Exercise 1: The candidate must write a forum post of at least 150 words to defend a point of view and participate in a discussion/debate on a social issue.
Exercise 2: The candidate is presented with a communication situation and must write a message of at least 100 words related to this situation.
