What is Linguaskill?

Linguaskill is an online English test designed by Cambridge English. It uses artificial intelligence to quickly assess candidates’ English proficiency.

Modular and adaptive, it can assess one or more skills (reading, writing, and speaking) according to requirements. It is available in two versions: Linguaskill General (everyday English) and Linguaskill Business (business English).

Widely used by companies, educational institutions, and training organizations, Linguaskill aligns its results with the CEFR through the Cambridge English Scale.

The Linguaskill modules

Linguaskill consists of three modules, which you can take together or separately.

Reading and Listening (reading and listening comprehension)
≈ 60-85 min · adaptive

A combined, adaptive module: the difficulty of the questions adjusts to your answers. Multiple-choice questions based on written and audio materials.

Writing (written expression)
≈ 45 min · 2 tasks

Two writing tasks (for example, a short message followed by a longer text), assessed automatically.

Speaking (oral expression)
≈ 15 min

Several oral tasks recorded via microphone: reading aloud, answering questions, and giving a presentation based on prompts.

Understand the rating

Linguaskill reports a score on the Cambridge English Scale, generally ranging from 82 to 180 and above, with a corresponding CEFR level for each skill (from pre-A1 to C1 or higher).
